Rusty Haze

The next fly in the haze series is the Rusty Haze. Many of the flies in our area have a rusty brown color in both the dun and spinner stage. This fly can be tied in sizes #10 and #12 to represent some of the larger rusty colored flies like the ISO’s and March Brown Spinner and in sizes #14 – #20 to represent the smaller rusty flies and spinners.

Hook – Dry fly #10 – #20
Thread – Rusty brown 8/0
Tail – Dyed gray elk or deer hair
Body – Rusty brown dubbing
Rib – Root beer Krystal Flash
Post – White calf hair
Hackle – Dark dun & Grizzly mixed tied parachute style
